Menexes S.A. is a family-owned vertical furniture manufacturing unit, active in Greece since 1974, that has positioned itself as a leader in the office furniture industry through strict adherence to quality and aesthetic excellence. DigInTraCE: Digital Transformation and Traceability
DigInTraCE is a project funded by the European Union, focused on reducing waste and improving traceability through complex supply chains. By leveraging digital technologies like IoT and blockchain, the initiative aims to create transparent and efficient supply chains capable of adapting to market dynamics. Menexes SA actively contributes to this project while benefiting from international collaborations with industry leaders and academic institutions.
The consortium, which consists of more than twenty organizations and is coordinated by the Institute of Communication & Computer Systems (ICCS), is collaborating since 1the 1st of January 2023, on developing the overall concept of the project and implementing it in four demonstrators (Greek, Italian, Belgian and Spanish).
Menexes SA participates in the Greek demonstrator, where composite wood materials are under the microscope. The -material oriented- aim is to produce plywood and particle boards by incorporating recycled wood chips and natural bio-based adhesives. Menexes acts both as s supplier of secondary materials (underutilized wood by-products products coming from furniture manufacturing) and receiver of the end products (plywood panels and particleboards) in the Greek demonstrator.
Tracking and tracing techniques will be implemented, alongside innovative sensing and sorting technologies to identify reusable wood chips. The Digital Product Passport will dynamically document the entire production process, ensuring quality also through certification standards. The focus on life cycle optimization reinforces Menexes SA’s commitment to sustainable practices.
